The Interactive Customer Experience Association honored excellence in interactive customer experience technologies with its 2017 Elevate Awards, handed out at a convivial dinner party at the Star, the Dallas Cowboys’ headquarters and training facility, held as part of this year’s ICX Summit 2017.

The Awards, judged by a panel of industry experts and journalists, were handed out in 10 categories ranging from best ICX content in point-of-wait and point-of-sale deployments, best ICX deployments in retail, healthcare, e-commerce and more. In addition to those 10, another award honored the ICX Influencer of the Year. That honor this year went to Under Armour for the brand’s continued dedication to creating unique and engaging in-store experiences for its customers in what seems to have become a corporate philosophy of using technology to create transcendent interactive customer experiences both in its stores and in some cases at the stores before they even open.

“It’s with great honor that I accept the ICX Association’s Influencer of the Year award. We are at a very exciting point in the evolution of retail and being recognized as an influential leader in this vastly changing field is a huge honor,” said Christiana DiMattesa, Senior Retail Marketing Manager, Brand House & Factory House, for Under Armour. “The changes in customer behavior and customer expectations have forced us as retailers to either evolve or die. The drive to innovate, the passion to always put our customers first and the adrenaline to constantly evolve is necessary to succeed in this changing retail landscape. I want to particularly thank my peer members of the ICXA, as the the ability to collaborate with other retail thought leaders is a constant inspiration.”

“The award winners again this year exemplified the kind of creative, innovative and imaginative customer experiences that brands are going to have to emulate to stay relevant in an ever more competitive and fractured market,” said ICX Association Managing Director Christopher Hall, after the awards ceremony. “Retail, especially, is at an inflection point and will need this kind of forward-thinking work.”

In addition to the Elevate Awards, this year’s event also saw the presentation of the first annual KioskMarketplace.com Kiosk Innovation of the Year Award, presented to Frank Olea, CEO of Olea Kiosks.

Elliot Maras, editor of Kiosk Marketplace, said the Kiosk Innovation of the Year Award was created to honor commitment to excellence and to honor kiosk innovation.

“Last year, we asked our readers to nominate kiosks deserving this recognition,” Maras said. “We reviewed the nominations and came up with 24 we deemed worthy of a final vote by our readers. The readers assigned a numerical score to the 24 ballots.”

Olea Kiosks won the award for its Verona Healthcare Kiosk.

The Awards ceremony and dinner party, featuring tours of the facility, were held in conjunction with this year’s ICX Summit, held nearby at the Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas. The Summit is an annual conference devoted to showcasing the innovative ways technology can be used to create transcendent customer experiences.

“The Elevate Awards showcase overall excellence, creativity, design and teamwork from those who support the industry with dedication,” said Kathy Doyle, executive vice president and publisher of Networld Media Group, organizers of the Summit and parent company of the Association. “We are honored to present the best in class each year at the ICX Summit.”

Best ICX Content, Point of Sale: LG Best Buy Wall, by Sandbox

“Excellent experience of ambient media for branding. The motion activation adds significantly to the engagement, which is anchored in rich images that are contextually relevant to the time and place.”

Best ICX Deployment: E-commerce: ShopBMW E-commerce, by Reality Interactive

Judges’ comments:

“Fantastic, much needed improvement in mobile interface. Nice clean look! Well designed and easy to use. The sales lift is outstanding … Great success.”
